Audience research.

I have been doing audience research to find out what people like about music and the music videos they watch.

1. Why do you choose the music you do?
many answered they choose the music they do because they hear it from a friend or family.
Some said they would find the link on Youtube, by going through other links.
Some choose the music they do because of similarities with the artists, such as playing the same instrument, or coming from the same place.  Or simply listening to the music for enjoyment.

2.Do videos make a difference?
Most answered no to this question as they said they usually listen to the music before they look up the video.
Some also said that the video on occasion would help the viewer understand the story line better, if the song was complicated.

3. What attracts you to videos?
Some said if they were quirky and different, so they would keep the viewer paying more attention.
Some also said special effects can make a video much better for example "Love the way you lie" by Eminem feat. Rhianna. They said also if the storyline was exciting and clever this will make the music video more enjoyable.

4. What puts you off videos?
Many said when the video was plain with just a single person in it and not much of a story line. Also many said when the singer is out of sink with the actual song and therefore makes it obvious that they are not actually singing at that point in time.
Other's said if the music was not good enough of if they did not like the artist then they would not look up videos.

So from my research, I have found out that plain videos are not interesting, you should involve more than one person in the video, there should be an interesting storyline that goes along with the song. And you should try and find similarities with your target audience and this is what I plan to do.
